The Canadian Rockies are home to some of the world’s most beautiful mountain scenery, and there’s no better way to explore them than on one of the world’s best rail journeys – the Rocky Mountaineer. As you wind your way through British Columbia, you’ll be spoiled by panoramic views of snow-capped mountains, rushing rivers and you may even spot the odd bear or two. After you’ve enjoyed the journey of a lifetime spend a couple of days relaxing in Vancouver, one of the most liveable cities in the world.
Your Itinerary
Day 1 : UK - Calgary
On arrival into Calgary a private transfer is included to your hotel. The remainder of the day is at leisure. Set dramatically between prairies and peaks, Calgary is a chic Canadian metropolis, buzzing with rich western heritage and surrounded by incomparable natural beauty.
Day 2 : Banff
This morning take a scenic drive through to the resort town of Banff. This is a town that truly celebrates its heritage, lives and breathes mountain culture and never takes its backyard for granted. On arrival enjoy a short tour visiting such points as Bow Falls and Surprise Corner, a stop at the Banff Gondola to ride up into the mountain tops for spectacular views (admission included) and a cruise on Lake Minnewanka before arriving at your hotel. The rest of the day is free.
Day 3 : Lake Louise
Enjoy a free morning in Banff. Perhaps stroll down Banff Avenue or walk the Bow Falls Trail and look at Bow Falls before you leave in the early afternoon
for a short drive via the scenic Bow Valley to Lake Louise.
Day 4 : Jasper
Travel by coach along the most scenic highway in North America - the Icefield Parkway. Visit the Columbia Icefield for an included Ice Explorer ride on the Athabasca Glacier and walk on the Glacier Skywalk. Along the way stop at Bow & Peyto Lakes, the Crowfoot Glacier and the Athabasca Falls.
Day 5 : Jasper
Today is free to explore this charming mountain village close to many terrific scenic highlights. This pleasant alpine village is nestled amidst some of Canada’s most stunning scenery. The
“Gem of the Canadian Rockies” is surrounded by snow-capped mountains, thundering waterfalls, glaciers, lakes and rivers running in deep canyons.
Day 6 : Kamloops
All aboard the Rocky Mountaineer in SilverLeaf Service for a scenic rail journey. Leaving Jasper National Park behind you travel the ‘Yellowhead’ route past the sprawling grandeur of Mount Robson. Follow the mighty Thompson River, the route of early fur traders, before arriving in Kamloops.
Day 7 : Vancouver
Leaving Kamloops follow the Thompson River, passing through Rainbow Canyon and Fraser Canyon. The last leg of the journey takes you through the Fraser Valley to arrive in the Pacific port of Vancouver late afternoon. On arrival a transfer will take you to your hotel for a three night stay.
Day 8-9 : Vancouver
Two free days to explore Vancouver, voted Canada’s most liveable city. It’s a young, friendly city with countless natural charms in close proximity. Shop on chic Robson Street or explore the funky Granville Island with its market and artists enclave. Discover the surrounding peaks of the Coastal Mountains or go whale watching on the Pacific Ocean.
Day 10-11 : Vancouver- UK
Take an included transfer to the airport for your flight to the UK.
