Polar Bears of Churchill

Polar Bears of Churchill

WILDLIFE & ADVENTURE

Each year in the fall, along the west shore of Canada’s Hudson Bay, magnificent Polar bears gather near Churchill, Manitoba waiting for the bay to freeze over so that they can begin their annual hunt for seals, their choice prey. Not accessible by road, the small northern seaport of Churchill is often referred to as the “polar bear capital of the world”.

The Enthusiast Programmes

Designed not only see the magnificent Lord of the Arctic, Manitoba’s polar bears, but also to experience the history and culture of the region. Led by very knowledgeable guides, Enthusiast program itineraries include activities other than bear watching, such as a town and area tour, entrance to the Eskimo Museum and Parks Canada facility and a private slide presentation.

Tundra Buggy Lodge

If you prefer to stay “up-close and personal” with the bears for your entire stay then the best way is to stay at the world famous Tundra Buggy Lodge. Whilst the guests that prefer to stay in a Churchill-based hotel are transferred from town to the Wildlife Management Area where the Lodge is situated, Lodge guests have a chance to wake-up right in the bear’s playground. A stay at Tundra Buggy Lodge is truly an unforgettable experience; please ask for details and prices.
