Best Islands Destinations to go in January

Experience more on your next trip with an extended stay in some of the world's nicest islands. From the sandy beaches and swaying palm trees of Fiji, the volcanic tropical peaks of the Cook Islands to the secluded beaches and overwater bungalows in French Polynesia.

For this month, our top 3 destinations to visit are all found in the South Pacific. January is the middle summer month bringing higher temperatures and increased humidity meaning a greater chance of heavy but short-lived rain showers and the occasional storm, but nothing so severe as to prevent travel. These generally pass quickly, however, and it is rare to have continuous days of solid rain. With fewer visitors and far lower hotel prices, it can be a great time to visit.

Events to note: Chinese New Year falls annually in January or February and the French Polynesian Chinese community in Tahiti celebrates Chinese New Year with music, dancing and parades.
