Day 3 : Rocky Mountaineer

Today brings one of the highlights of your Canadian adventure as you board the Rocky Mountaineer in GoldLeaf Service for the first stage of your journey to Kamloops. Settle into your spacious seats and watch the magnificent scenery unfold through the panoramic windows. The route follows rushing rivers and dramatic mountain valleys, with spectacular views of the Canadian Rockies and British Columbia's rugged interior.

Day 4 : Rocky Mountaineer - Vancouver

Leaving Kamloops behind, the train follows the Thompson River before continuing through the spectacular Fraser Canyon. Watch for dramatic gorges, rushing rivers and rugged mountain scenery as you travel towards the Pacific coast. The final section of the journey passes through the fertile Fraser Valley before arriving in cosmopolitan Vancouver.

Day 5 : Vancouver

Surrounded by mountains, ocean and forest, Vancouver is one of Canada's most attractive cities. Explore the shops and restaurants of downtown, stroll along the waterfront or visit Stanley Park, one of the city's most famous green spaces.

Day 6 : Holland America’s Westerdam

Today you board Holland America Line's Westerdam for your northbound Alaska cruise.

Settle into your stateroom and take some time to explore the ship before departure. As the ship leaves Vancouver, the spectacular scenery of British Columbia provides a fitting introduction to your cruise.

Your voyage will take you north through the Inside Passage, visiting historic Alaskan communities before reaching the spectacular glacier country of Glacier Bay and College Fjord.

Day 7-12 : Alaska Cruise

Continue your spectacular northbound cruise aboard Westerdam, sailing through the scenic Inside Passage and calling at the colourful Alaskan ports of Ketchikan, Juneau and Skagway. Cruise through the breathtaking wilderness of Glacier Bay and College Fjord, with opportunities to see towering glaciers, snow-capped mountains and abundant wildlife along the way.

Day 13 : Whittier - Anchorage

This morning arrive in Whittier, your port of disembarkation.

After leaving Westerdam, board your coach for the journey north towards Anchorage, Alaska's largest city. The route provides your first introduction to Alaska's interior landscapes as you leave the coast behind.

On arrival in Anchorage, check in to your hotel and enjoy a relaxing evening after your cruise.

Day 14 : Anchorage

Today is free to explore Anchorage.

Set between the Chugach Mountains and Cook Inlet, Anchorage combines the amenities of a modern city with easy access to some of Alaska's most spectacular wilderness.

Day 15-16 : Denali National Park

This morning board the McKinley Explorer for a spectacular rail journey north towards Denali. The journey takes you through the heart of Alaska, with panoramic views of forests, rivers and mountains along the route. As you approach Denali, the scale of the landscape becomes increasingly impressive.

On arrival, transfer to the Holland America Denali Lodge, your base for exploring this extraordinary region for the next 2 days.

Day 17 : Denali National Park

Today venture deeper into Denali National Park on the Tundra Wilderness Tour.

This is one of the best opportunities on your journey to experience Alaska's wildlife and wilderness. The route travels through the park's extraordinary landscapes, with the possibility of seeing moose, caribou, Dall sheep and bears, while your expert guides provide an insight into the park's natural history.

Day 18 : Fairbanks

Leave Denali behind this morning and travel north by coach to Fairbanks, the gateway to Alaska's Interior.

As you travel through the Alaskan wilderness, watch the landscape change from the mountains and forests around Denali to the broad valleys and rivers of the Interior.

Day 19 : Fairbanks

Today discover two of Fairbanks' most fascinating experiences.

First, board the Riverboat Discovery, an authentic sternwheeler for a journey along the Chena and Tanana Rivers. The narrated experience introduces you to Alaska's river culture, wildlife and history, with visits and demonstrations along the way.

Continue to Gold Dredge 8, where Alaska's gold-mining heritage comes to life. Learn about the miners who came north in search of fortune, see the enormous dredge and try your hand at gold panning.

Day 20-21 : Dawson City

Fly from Fairbanks to Dawson City travelling across the vast landscapes of Alaska and the Yukon. On arrival, transfer to your hotel and settle into Dawson City. With its wooden buildings, historic streets and colourful Gold Rush heritage, Dawson feels like a step back into the late 19th century.

Discover the fascinating story of the Klondike Gold Rush. Dawson City was at the heart of the great Gold Rush of the late 1890s, when prospectors poured into the region hoping to make their fortunes. Your Klondike gold tour brings this remarkable chapter of northern history to life as you explore the goldfields surrounding the city.

Day 22 : Vancouver

Your northern adventure comes to an end today as you fly from Dawson City via Whitehorse to Vancouver. On arrival in Vancouver, transfer to your airport hotel for your final night in Canada.

Day 23 : Vancouver-UK

Transfer to Vancouver International Airport in time for your flight back to the UK, taking with you memories of spectacular mountain scenery, unforgettable rail journeys, glaciers, wildlife and the legendary Gold Rush country of Alaska and Yukon.
