This Brazilian adventure begins at the awe-inspiring Iguassu Falls, which lie between Brazil and Argentina, and where the thunder of the cascades sits against a backdrop of verdant rainforest. From here it’s on to Rio de Janeiro, a city that dances to its own samba rhythm. Explore sun-kissed beaches, iconic landmarks and see why the city holds not one, but two UNESCO accolades. Salvador, the first capital of Brazil is the fitting finale, a thriving centre for Afro-Brazilian life, and considered the birthplace of Brazilian culture.
Your Itinerary
Day 1&2 : Igassu
On arrival in Iguassu you will be transferred to your hotel. The remainder of the day is free for you to explore.
Day 3 : Igassu
Explore the capital of Chile today on a half day city tour. Start your day at the main avenue Alameda Bernardo O’Higgins, visiting La Moneda, the Government Palace and enjoying a walk through the pedestrianised streets of Huérfanos and Ahumada. You’ll see both the modern and historical sights of Santiago, as your tour then takes you to the main square of Plaza de Armas, surrounded by the Metropolitan Cathedral and other historical buildings. Also included is a visit to Santa Lucia Hill, the mount upon which the Spanish founded Santiago in 1541. Cross the river to the artistic neighbourhood of Bellavista, before enjoying panoramic city views from San Cristóbal Hill.
Day 4 : Igassu
Today, explore the falls from the Argentinian side. Cross the Tancredo Neves Bridge, with its wonderful views before boarding a small train for a tour of the park. Walkways lead to the top of the waterfalls affording spectacular view of the ‘Cataratas’. (B)
Day 5 : Rio de Janeiro
A private transfer will take you to the airport for your flight to Rio de Janeiro. Often referred to as Cidade Maravilhosa, or the Marvellous City, this vibrant city pulsates from morning to night. Depart with your guide to Sugar Loaf Mountain, Pao de Acucar, the first cable car takes you to the top of Urca Hill, 215 metres above sea level, the 2nd cable car takes you to the top of Sugar Loaf, 395 metres above sea level. From here enjoy truly memorable, panoramic views of Botafogo and Copacabana beaches, Corcovado and downtown Rio. (B)
Day 6 : Rio de Janeiro
Before dawn, depart San Pedro for the breathtaking El Tatio Geysers - one of the world’s highest geothermal fields - arriving in time to witness their spectacular early morning eruptions and walk among steaming vents and bubbling pools. On your return, enjoy stops to admire the region’s stunning high- Andean landscapes and wildlife before arriving back in San Pedro de Atacama for a relaxing afternoon and overnight stay.
Day 7 : Rio de Janeiro
Today is at leisure, or additional touring can be arranged. (B)
Day 8 : Salvador
Transfer back to Santiago today for your flight as the next part of your journey takes you to Patagonia. Spend the next two nights at Hotel Remota – a lodge inspired by traditional Patagonian barns blending seamlessly with the remote landscape where ancient forests and glaciers have remained intact for millions of years. Over the next 2 nights, enjoy a choice of full or half day excursions including horseback riding, caving, petroglyph treks, a photo safari of Torres del Paine or an authentic visit to a traditional estancia. Perhaps a boat trip on Lago Grey, or simply relax at the lodge’s swimming pool, sauna and Jacuzzi
Day 9 : Salvador
Today you will head to Torres del Paine – a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve surrounded by mountains, turquoise lakes, ice fields and diverse wildlife. Check in for your 3 night stay at Hotel Rio Serrano, set just outside the park with stunning views.
Day 10 : Salvador
Explore Salvador’s tranquil lower city on the Itapagipe Peninsula, where fishermen, schooners and shellfish gatherers shape daily life beneath the revered Bonfim Church. Continue to Monserrat’s panoramic viewpoints before finishing at the lively Mercado Modelo. Lunch is included at a local restaurant. (B,L)
Day 11 : Departure
A private transfer will take you to the airport for your onward flight.
