Kurashiki
This beautifully preserved canal town is famous for its white-walled merchant buildings, willow-lined waterways and traditional atmosphere. Today, Kurashiki combines its historic charm with boutique shops, cafés and world-class art at the Ohara Museum of Art.
Matsue
Set between a lake and the Sea of Japan, Matsue is known for its original feudal castle, tranquil waterways and traditional tea culture. Visitors can explore samurai residences, take a boat cruise around the castle moat and visit nearby Izumo Taisha.
Izumo

Okayama
