Day 1 : Depart the UK
Your journey begins with an overnight flight from Manchester to Port Elizabeth via Dubai and Johannesburg. Sit back, relax and prepare for an unforgettable South African adventure combining safari, coastal scenery and the iconic Garden Route.
Day 2 : Arrive at Kariega Game Reserve
On arrival into Port Elizabeth, you’ll be met and privately transferred to Kariega Game Reserve in the Eastern Cape. Spend the afternoon settling into your luxury lodge surrounded by pristine wilderness before your first taste of the African bush.
Enjoy full board accommodation and the chance to experience the reserve’s spectacular wildlife and scenery.
Day 3 : Kariega Game Reserve
Today is yours to enjoy the incredible safari experiences available at Kariega Game Reserve. Venture out on thrilling game drives in search of the Big Five, admire dramatic landscapes and enjoy peaceful moments immersed in nature. Between activities, relax at the lodge and soak up the tranquillity of the Eastern Cape.
Day 4 : Kariega Game Reserve
The day begins with early morning coffee or tea, followed by a thrilling open vehicle safari (with English speaking game ranger) through Kruger National Park with pre-packed breakfast. Kruger is one of the world's greatest national parks, home to a stunning array of wildlife. Search for the ’Big Five’ (rhino, buffalo, lion, leopard, and elephant) as well as prolific birdlife and numerous other game. The afternoon is at leisure at your hotel. An afternoon open vehicle game drive is available as an extension to the morning game drive (optional & for own account). [Breakfast]
Day 5 : Journey Along the Garden Route to Knysna
After breakfast, transfer back to Port Elizabeth to collect your hire car and begin your scenic self-drive adventure along South Africa’s famous Garden Route. Travel to the charming lagoon town of Knysna, known for its beautiful coastal scenery, forests and relaxed atmosphere. Spend the next two nights at the elegant Belvidere Manor.
Day 6 : Explore Knysna
After breakfast we will continue south through eSwatini (Swaziland), before re-entering South Africa. Travel into Zululand, passing traditional round huts and endless vistas. There is an option to enjoy an afternoon open vehicle safari (optional and for own account with an English-speaking game ranger) in the Hluhluwe-Umfolozi Game Reserve, which contains an immense diversity of fauna and flora and is particularly famous for its conservation of black and white rhino. Overnight in Hluhluwe-Umfolozi region. [Breakfast]
Day 7 : Continue to Swellendam
Leaving the coast behind, continue inland to the historic town of Swellendam. Surrounded by mountains and countryside, this charming stop offers a slower pace and a chance to experience another side of South Africa. Overnight at Rothman Manor.
Day 8 : Travel to Hermanus
Today’s journey takes you to Hermanus, one of South Africa’s most scenic coastal towns. Famous for its dramatic ocean views and seasonal whale watching, Hermanus offers a wonderful blend of nature, coastline and relaxed seaside charm. Stay overnight at La Fontaine Guest House.
Day 9 : Arrive in Cape Town
Continue to vibrant Cape Town, one of the world’s most beautiful cities. With Table Mountain as its backdrop, Cape Town offers a fantastic mix of culture, cuisine, beaches and breathtaking scenery. Spend the next three nights at the stylish Welgelegen Boutique Guest House.
Day 10 : Discover Cape Town
Enjoy a full day at leisure in Cape Town. Explore the V&A Waterfront, take the cable car up Table Mountain, visit the colourful Bo-Kaap neighbourhood or enjoy the city’s renowned food and wine scene.
Day 11 : Explore the Cape Peninsula
Another day to experience more of Cape Town and the surrounding region. Perhaps drive the spectacular Cape Peninsula route, visit Cape Point and Boulders Beach, or enjoy the nearby Winelands.
Day 12-13 : Begin Your Journey Home
After breakfast, drive to Cape Town Airport and return your hire car before your flights home via Johannesburg and Dubai. Reflect on unforgettable safari moments, stunning coastal drives and vibrant city experiences as your South African adventure comes to an end.
