Passports & Visas:

  • You can get a visa on arrival in Japan for tourism for up to 90 days. Please check for the most up to date rules HERE

Language & Culture:

  • Japanese is the official language of Japan, although the country is a multicultural nation, so it will be common to hear a range of languages. 

Money & Expenses: 

  • Japan is very much a cash-based society and we recommend always carrying some cash with you. Although most stores and restaurants will accept Visa, MasterCard and American Express cards, please consider that some may not. You can usually withdraw cash from one of the Post Office ATMs throughout Japan.
  • Consider an IC card for using subways and local transport
