Language & Culture:

  • New Zealand has three official languages. English, Te Reo Māori and New Zealand Sign Language. English is the country’s primary language.
  • Māori were the first settlers in Aotearoa New Zealand and their culture is a very important part of day to day life in New Zealand, with Māori making up 15% of the overall population.

Food & Drink in New Zealand 

  • New Zealand offers up a uniquely Kiwi culinary scene. Explore world class wineries, sustainably sourced ingredients and traditional Māori food. Experience a hāngi, a feast cooked in an underground earth oven. Other specialities include Kūtai, green-lipped mussels, and Rēwena bread, potato bread. Tipping in NZ is your choice and hotels and restaurants will tend not to add a service charge to their bill.

  • Major credit cards are widely accepted.
  • A good and service tax (GST) of 15% is displayed in the price in New Zealand and this is non-refundable.
